FRIENDSHIP BRIDGES

Turkish and International Youth Meeting and Teaching Each Other their Languages

October 20 – December 20

The rapid changes and transformations witnessed around the world during the last decades increase the need for interactions among all nations. The level of diplomatic, social, economic and cultural relations is not satisfactory among Muslim communities around the world, along with the need for cooperation, if not integration. This indicates that there is a big room (and even a need) to increase and develop cultural, educational, social and touristic relations between Turkey and the international community. Although there is a big international interest in Turkey and learning Turkish, as well as in learning English in Turkey, the courses and institutions operating in this field are not sufficient especially due to the shortage of practicing opportunities. In addition, those who speak languages do not interact sufficiently, especially under the current COVID conditions.

In order to meet these needs explained above, we are planning programs where Turkish and international youth will meet, teach each other their languages and discuss interesting issues. We will organize groups according to their interests and demands in courses, discussions, and workshops by bringing both sides together. In this way, young people will be able to teach each other their own languages, cultures and to discuss important issues. Those who want to learn and teach languages at different levels from the two language groups will be brought together in separate groups. Depending on the demands and feasibility, separate groups can be arranged for narrower areas of interest, age groups and even only for men and women. For this purpose, you can participate in the program that aims to bridge both sides together on a voluntary basis. The main medium of communication will be English but Turkish and other languages can be added when there is enough demand.
